Why Farcaster? I came for change in scenery as Twitter became X; stayed for the friends I made along the way. I think the days of monolothic social apps will be behind us, and we'll instead look to portable social graphs. AT protocol (Bluesky) and ActivityPub protocol (Mastodon) solve similar problems but lack the monetary incentive for both servers and users to commit their resources to, electricity and attention, respectively. Bluesky will likely go the advertising network route, Mastodon may end up as smaller micro communities (like forums) as larger servers become unwieldy to maintain and moderate. There's already an increasing rate of larger servers shutting down for this reason. Farcaster being built atop Ethereum and potentially other large blockchains is a more futuristic look at technology and I think (hope) with time the technology simplifies such that average users aren't even aware of what's going on under the hood. But rather can benefit from what's possible.

Well said. Farcaster's focus on portability and blockchain integration truly feels like a step toward the future of social networking.
