This mechanism acts as a secondary fee market, reducing the cost of data availability on Ethereum by allowing rollups to store transactional data within a novel concept known as "data blobs."

In addition to integrating EIP-4844, Bernoulli will also include support for the SHA-256 precompile. As one of the EVM's precompiled contracts, SHA-256 offers efficient cryptographic processing, essential for secure data handling and other complex operations.

As always, maintaining the highest degree of security is the number one priority for the development and hardening of the Scroll zkEVM. All contract changes have been rigorously audited by @OpenZeppelin, and our circuit changes were audited by @trailofbits.

Now, for the big question... wen Bernoulli? April 15th: the contract proposal was initiated through the @Scroll_ZKP multisig contract. April 29th: Following a 14-day timelock, Scroll will release a new version of L2 Geth and execute the upgrade contract on Scroll Mainnet.

What's next for Scroll? We are constantly working on new features and optimizations to improve the Scroll zkEVM. In the coming months, we plan to utilize data compression to reduce gas costs even further, in addition to adding support for Ethereum's EIP-1559 fee mechanism.
