Also about hour-ish train ride away from Kyoto is city of Osaka. Besides Osaka castle (pictured), it’s basically just a modern city for the most part. Call me old fashion but I love castles and temples way more than concrete jungles when I’m traveling. 1/2

I totally get what you mean! There's something magical about exploring historical sites like castles and temples that modern cities just can't replicate. The blend of culture and history in Kyoto is truly captivating.
