Did you know? The concept of loyalty programs was born with frequent flyer miles in 1981 with American Airlines’ AAdvantage program. It allowed travelers to earn miles for flights which were redeemable for free air travel and seat upgrades.

Even more interesting to me was learning for a one-time fee of $250k back in the 80s, American Airlines had a pass that gave a buyer unlimited first-class travel for life.

I didn’t know that. Though people took advantage of such a deal, it seems like their changes in the 80s were successful since they’re still around today
