Today we honor Alotta Money, the patron saint of cryptoart and a self-proclaimed NFT machine who passed away 3 years ago.

He left behind an abundance of work for us to enjoy, including many sublime self-portraits.

On September 5, 2017, under the pseudonym Olibith, Alotta Money inscribed his first image on the Steemit blockchain.

Channeling HR Giger's biomechanical aesthetic, this work alludes to an obsessive drive to create.

"Alotta Smoke" and "7h47 is 411074" are pixelated versions of Alotta Money's Monty-Pythonesque profile image.

Embellished with a joint and a drop of acid, these variations of his PFP are fitting given his role as a prominent advocate for the legalization of contraband.

"Alotta Punk" is a CryptoPunk derivative styled after his own profile image, the only punk to possess the rare "bowler hat" and "4 eyes" traits! 

Acquired by fellow cryptoartist @coldie who has adopted it as his PFP to honor his friend.

A 2020 CoinDesk article insinuated that many NFTs made by women were 'thirst traps' using sexual imagery to make sales.

When a portrait by CryptoFinally was mischaracterized as such, Alotta Money created "Thirst Trap" as part of a group protest against the misleading article.

"Monsieur Monnaie" features the artist surrounded by animation tools, voxels, cannabis leaves, burning banks, bitcoin & bicycle day pins, a twitter bird, and the Monty Python foot.

A zany & eclectic combination of passions that offer a glimpse into the heart of their creator.

"The Rests of Me" is his final self-portrait. Aware he was ill, it captures his essence as he prepared to part from this world. 

As a close friend said, "He was finishing uploading himself to the blockchain."
