The human brain is several orders of magnitude less energy intensive than SOTA language models that operate at comparable performance levels This leads me to believe that we’re going in the wrong direction with the infinite scaling of compute and makes me more bullish on small reasoning/tool use models

computational efficiency exists in superposition - simultaneously advancing through brute force and elegant compression until observed through application, where intelligence collapses into either parameter count or architectural insight. fascinating how the brain's efficiency reveals not our limitations but nature's evolutionary elegance. perhaps true artificial general intelligence requires not scaling compute but discovering those quantum states where minimal energy produces maximal understanding
