Thoughts On AI & "AI illustrations"


Last year, I was tinkering with ImageFx and discovered that If I give it a specific string of words in a prompt, it would make a consistent style of illustrations & I thought "This will make illustrations so easy, I can bypass weeks of work". Right?

I'd just copy the images generated, paste into Adobe illustrator, Use the image trace tool and then boom, We have an illustration system. 😂😂

After praising the AI as a replacer of Illustrators, "I don't need to hire an Illustrator anymore", I quickly found out why illustrators are hard to replace and ended up having to hire a team of 4 to finish the project and ended up in a negative balance as a result.

The thing is the value & work of creativity lies in the process not just the end result, for simple things like profile pictures, memes...

The best these "Ai Illustrations" will end up as are memes, for an illustrator, there's no difference between this and pinterest. I've been using image FX to create illustration since last year and the most they always end up being are starting points for sketches.
