Genesis 1:27-28:
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created THEM. God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.’”

The emphasis on “them” is mine and a cheeky joke kind of, but I can’t help but take a more layered reading of this and see this more as being as much about the male and female polarities and not only gender as such, as much and at the same time as the specific imperative for heterosexual partners to go forth and procreate. Why would God give a shit if some of his flock were gay or trans, as long as the ship of mankind sails on? Simply unconvincing to take an anti LGBTQ reading of the Bible. Most of this seems to be arguments about words, sports and civil social conventions like the word marriage

Other than my own personal faith journey, the reason I’m taking a close look at the theological debates that touch upon today’s culture war issues (where the Bible is unclear and incomplete) versus today’s economic issues (where the Bible is unambiguously foreshadowing a communal utopia as heaven on earth)

is that the economic issues are so salient in their clarity in the Word that it seems far too potent a weapon for the left to leave on the shelf. And that applies to all the world’s great faiths

Having a hard time digesting it (basis of leaning left is materialism I think and requires rejection of all supernatural phenomena not based in science)

- Being megalomaniac and wanting to cleanse another tribe 
and
- Being compassionate and wanting to create a better world

both are emergent behavior of matter that becomes human brain.

There is nothing meta-physical about either, even if one wants to think so! 

if delusions help you get by your day, be assured delusions are also causing genocide on other sides of planet as well!

:) I think trying to save the world and our fellow man, even on purely secular humanist grounds, is an act of deep faith and divine love. But everyone must choose their own path, and the scientific method and secular liberalism are a perfectly fine “religion”
