A little off topic - it kinda blows my mind that Nandan Nilekani tried to get into politics contesting for MP seat out of Bangalore South in 2014, and lost! despite his best efforts at campaigning. I guess it worked out for the best as he used his genious to create UPI after (not sure about the timeline).

There were reasons for his loss, like the modi wave in 2014, but I remember being super shocked that people chose to not elect someone of his caliber to the government.
