What is your favorite element of this piece and why?
I'm particularly drawn to the dual meaning of the title, "Bull, Fighter." It flips the script on the traditional bullfight, making the bull the protagonist. This subversion of expectations, combined with the bull's powerful stance, forces a reconsideration of the power dynamics. The texture is also essential to the piece. The layers of paint create a visceral quality, almost as if you can feel the raw energy emanating from the canvas. It amplifies the bull's strength and the primal nature of the subject.
How long did it take you to create this piece?
This piece was a labor of layered intensity. Over many weeks, I built up the surface layer by layer, spending over 60 hours meticulously applying and drying the black, white, and gray paint. The process itself became a meditation on the power and presence of the bull, and what it means to stand and fight. 1 reply
