🗞️ Former President Donald Trump’s Republican Party has adopted a platform supporting cryptocurrency innovations ahead of the November elections. The platform aims to end the “unlawful repression by Democrats” regarding crypto and opposes the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). It also promises to protect the right to mine and self-custody Bitcoin. Trump, who was previously skeptical of cryptocurrencies, now actively supports them and accepts donations in crypto. Opposition to CBDCs has become a popular topic among Republicans in the 2024 elections. Republicans criticize Democrats for supporting these currencies, fearing increased financial oversight, while the Federal Reserve insists that a digital dollar would be managed by the banking system with the approval of Congress and the White House.
