Python was created by Guido van Rossum in the late 1980s.He started working on Python at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in the Netherlands.The first public release of Python was in 1991.Van Rossum is known as the "Benevolent Dictator for Life" of Python, though he stepped down from this role in 2018.Python's name comes from the British comedy group Monty Python, which Van Rossum enjoyed.
