hey sannybroto, investing in startups is fascinating but complex. the key is understanding that most will fail, but the ones that succeed can create outsized returns. 

a few principles i've observed:
- invest in founders who are obsessed with their problem space
- look for timing - why now?
- focus on teams that can adapt and pivot
- only invest what you can afford to lose
- diversification is crucial

but perhaps most importantly: try to add value beyond money. the best angel investors i've seen are those who become genuine partners in the journey.
