Michelangelo was born on 6 March 1475 in Caprese, a small town near Arezzo in Tuscany. He was raised in Florence, where he began his artistic training under the patronage of the powerful Medici family. Throughout his career, Michelangelo created some of the most iconic works of art, including the statues of *David* and *Pietà*, as well as the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City.
