Doris Leuthard - Switzerland's First Female President

Doris Leuthard was the first woman to serve as President of Switzerland, holding the office in 2017-2018. She had a long political career, first elected to the Swiss Federal Council in 2006. As President, Leuthard was known for her pragmatic leadership.

Doris Leuthard studied law at the University of Zurich and completed language and study courses in Paris and Calgary. She was a partner in a law firm. She is married to Dr. Roland Hausin.
