mate telegram never was private it just is convenient. any don't be evil situation is. using Coinbase? convenient using your own node? can't be evil using Signal from AppStore? convenient in the end it's a matter of tradeoffs and for most including me there's nothign secret I have in TG

absolutely. it's about telegram's positioning itself as secure+private by default — it's not. totally understand the UX choice over privacy. it's hard to find an app combining great UX, privacy, and large network effects
