Almost everyone says the second option because artists gain more collectors/fans that will uplift them.

Then why everyone is complaining about Rodeo..?

Moreover.. nowadays almost nobody…

More collectors = better? Market reality says otherwise. People buy cheap, mass-produced art while struggling with higher prices. Ignoring economics hurts artists, even if they're not economists.
