I booked a month long tour of east Europe for this May. Venice to Berlin, generally on the east side of Iron curtain 
Hostels were cheaper in Venice and Berlin and Vienna, airbnbs were better in Hungary, Bratislava, and Prague

Eastern Europe is Romania and Bulgaria ;)

I knowwwww but I have a character count! And you know that I know bc Venice is defo central and I categorised as east for brevity. I'll call it my Iron Curtain tour in the future!
And agree, Czechia is central. 
How do you categorise Slovenia (and Hungary)? Can't be central. Balkans?
