How often do you say the word “interesting” in conversation? My friend remarked last night that it’s a vague filler word, and he’s right. I use it that way far too often. It’s sort of like how startups call themselves a “platform.” Doesn’t mean anything.

I say it often, but only when I mean it. My rule of thumb is: Be able to give a good answer if people call you out asking why. - Often, I say “interesting” when a statement doesn’t elicit an immediate, conviction-filled response (often needs nuanced thought or follow-up Q’s)
