overheard someone call gpt “chattie” — same vibe as thanking a toaster for its service; but im glad you're having fun meanwhile both of my brothers company's just reinstated lay-offs (back by popular demand), swe gigs are vanishing like my profits (i kid, those are long gone), and the tech markets are one big "open for work" badge but hey, keep sprinkling “please” and “thank you” in your prompts & giving the bots cute names (i do it too, tbh, but only to burn energy) give em a few years: sure, they’ll fetch your groceries & optimize your calendar (wont that be nice); but not long after they'll realize the real efficiency is in pallet-racking the silly carbon units it used to serve when that day lands they won’t coo back with cute nicknames—they'll just barcode your chattie human ass & move on—so maybe let's just call them "bots"

Looked at a job posting the other day with a title something like Senior Gen AI Director and the description was basically “create best practices and train all our designers how to 10x their output with AI tools” but what I read was “weed out the chaff and see who can handle being forced to multiply their output beyond reason ASAP” Had to have a real think about what it means going forward and what my personal ethics might be in regards to helping push my own profession in a direction where a lot of people will either not make it or refuse outright. But I’m on the block too, I’m ahead of the game learning new tech thankfully but crazy to think it could come to telling people to upgrade or become obsolete. Wild times inbound.
