It certainly looks like mochi🤣 Mochi is made from glutinous rice, while nerikiri is made from shiratamako 🍡 (glutinous rice flour).

Of course! During this cold season, I think most Japanese people eat mochi🎍🇯🇵 (Like in this photo) However, there are many different types of mochi. Nerikiri might be closer to "dango" than mochi! Haha.
