When you can’t be brutally honest you’re left with two choices: 

1. Try to be honest without being brutal
2. Devalue honesty

Feels sometimes that culturally we are pinballing in vain between these two approaches.

yeah, one issue is the lines are blurred. social norms brought to truthseeking organs. truthseeking organs that deliver hard truths face social sanctions etc etc

Brutally honest is best, imo when it comes to ideas/engineering

When it comes to socialization and relationships and such, maybe not the right way to approach, but still honesty should be the only thing aimed for
