there was an analyst at Lehman named ravi suria who claimed that amazon is on questionable financial footing. This almost created a reflexive doom loop with their vendors (some of whom wanted to be paid right away)

i’d bet they almost certainly would have given the surrounding financial climate :)

Seems like the kind of external pressure that turns for the best tho! Per wikipedia their finances on 2000 looked like they were heading straight to doom, doubling their losses from previous year and suddenly on 2001 the trends shifts direction completely! Wonder if they would have corrected course otherwise?
