Over the next 2 years, the familiar "Connect Wallet" affordance will disappear from most DApps except DeFi. 

Crypto onboarding will occur through simple, familiar mechanisms. No pop-ups, no hashes, no transactions, no fees.

Users won't even know they're using crypto.

Wallet connect provides me with independence and resistance to censorship or other forms of repression.

A common misconception! The method of authentication (e.g. with Google or Email) is totally independent of the custodial nature of the wallet. Coinbase's Embedded Wallets are non-custodial, using multiparty computation under the hood to shard your private key for maximal security.
