El Salvador seeks to buy bitcoins seized by US Department of Justice 🔸 In response to a recent decision by a US federal court to sell bitcoins seized from the illegal Silk Road marketplace, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has announced his country’s willingness to buy the assets at a discount. 🔸 Meanwhile, Chile, with the support of more than 20 lawmakers, is seeking to create a Bitcoin (BTC) task force in the country’s Congress. 🔸 Chilean Representative Gael Yeomans has proposed the formation of the task force with the aim of advancing Bitcoin research and regulation. 🔸 Meanwhile, El Salvador’s Bitcoin Office announced the purchase of 11 new bitcoins on January 8, indicating the continuation of the country’s strategy to increase its Bitcoin reserves.
