When traveling through the Khmelnytskyi region, it is impossible to ignore Kamyanets-Podilskyi, one of the most picturesque and ancient cities in Ukraine. Its history goes back more than 1,000 years, and its unique location on a rocky island surrounded by a loop of the Smotrych River made it an impregnable fortress.

Kamyanets-Podilskyi is a city that is impossible to forget. When I first came here, it literally charmed me with its atmosphere - narrow cobbled streets, majestic ancient walls.

The main pride of the city is the Kamyanets-Podilskyi Fortress. This is not just a historical monument, but a real symbol of fortitude, which for centuries protected these lands from invaders.

Before the war of 2022, you could even admire all this beauty from a bird's eye view - tourists were offered hot air balloon excursions.

Continuing the story about Kamyanets-Podilskyi, I cannot help but mention the Peter and Paul Cathedral. 

This is a unique religious monument of history and culture, which includes a Christian cathedral church, a bell tower, triumphal gates and a Turkish minaret topped with a sculpture of the Virgin Mary.

The history of the cathedral begins in the 14th century, when Dominican monks erected a wooden church, which became the center of the Catholic diocese. In the 15th-16th centuries, a stone building was built in its place. During the Ottoman rule (1672-1699), the church was converted into a mosque, and the Turks added a 36-meter minaret. After the liberation of the city, the shrine was restored, and in 1756 a copper statue of the Virgin Mary was installed on the minaret, symbolizing the return of the Christian faith.

When I found myself on the territory of the monastery, I literally felt a powerful, positive energy🥰
 This is a place where you want to stop, look around and think about the eternal.
