A supermoon rising above the tree line. Supermoons occur when the moon is at its closest point to Earth, known as perigee. As if that wasn't enough of an astronomical treat, the September full moon, otherwise known as the Harvest Moon, will be accompanied by a partial solar eclipse, where a chunk of the moon falls into the Earth's shadow. Worried you're going to miss it? Don't fret. You'll be able to catch more supermoons in October and November.
