After 3 years and 6 contract extensions, my current consulting gig is coming to an end in March. Plan is a vacation to tinker with more AI projects Wonder if self-hosted models are worth the learnings for their own sake, or if it's something to get into only after reaching limits of hosted APIs 🤔

Didn't TikTok get banned in the US? Where are all the dance videos on Farcaster!?

Keep sensitive stuff in repos. PhD level AI means it's still a few years away from being able to use Git

Bitcoiners better get a Trump token running on ordinals if they want that strategic Bitcoin reserve

Part of the decentralized ownership of user data and channel names etc is that users are meant to handle more of it

Yes, I can see that Farcaster would want to support many kinds of providers. Seems users having to bridge or buy currency on different chains will introduce friction though

Curious how you see the future of ENS as part of FC now that it's building its own L2 Eth, Optimism, Namechain... are things getting too fragmented?

Finally got around to playing Disco Elysium while getting over a cold. It's a slow story-driven adventure game with literary qualities Realized this type of game would be much easier to create in the age of LLMs Also realized that I probably would not want to play such a game if it had been released after ChatGPT

Shouldn't SOL and ETH benefit more from Trump getting rid of Gensler as he's already conceeded Bitcoin being a commodity?

The UI change where it shows a channel name even if you select to post to Home is confusing Difference between posting to Home vs posting to fc-devs:

Same. Tried casting to a channel but saw that I was no longer a member of most of them. No idea how people become members of channels

Suspect there are others. Just that if they got popular enough that we hear of them, Apple would ban them

Lots of credit firms seem to have become banks, like Klarna, but they'll might not be providing all the banking functions

No idea. Just think it's a sensible onboarding strategy for apps to pay for users' on-chain actions. Perhaps also good functionality for Eth L2s to add if they want to be competitive with Solana for app dev

Makes a lot of sense! Wrote a hackathon project that used Solana's functionality to let third parties pay for on-chain transactions so apps could pay for users to interact with a zk verification oracle and get a token. Idea was the payment could come from an app's anti-spam budget https://github.com/saarw/nymcred

It's ok for specific teaching sessions Pair/mob only tends to be the norm in extremely dysfunctional teams that can't get anything done otherwise, or when management can't evaluate output and hope people will watch each other from dodging work (some consultancies even sell this "benefit" to clients)

Almost. The rise of the nation state came at the expense of the church. Network states hope to capitalize on the weakening of the nation states They're not necessarily filling the role as a moral guide, but rather the administrative role that organized religion used to serve

Retention is especially tricky with social products as it's influenced by network effects Curious what a community-focused distribution strategy would look like for Farcaster to avoid people leaving because their friends don't join at the same time 🤔 (Zuck and Bier on-boarded a specific school each time etc)
