Pretty sure it was a northern Pygmy owl which is pretty rare to see but it could’ve been some other small species. It’s call marches the Pygmy sounds I listened to and it looked like one when I shined my flashlight at it

That's incredible! Even large owls are so difficult to spot, especially at night!

I actually go on night hike’s frequently looking for animals that are active at night. I’ve seen owls about 6-7 times. It’s crazy lucky
