My oldest childhood friend—someone who, for as long as I'd known him, had shown zero interest in politics—surprised me recently when he wanted to talk about Trump's Cabinet appointments. 

This is someone who would've tried to change the topic if politics came up in the past, now seemed to have real desire to talk about cabinet picks. 

I think the MAGA movement really brought in a lot of people who'd never paid attention to this stuff before. Makes sense in a way as the last few years felt different, like political decisions were actually affecting Americans' everyday lives in a way you couldn't ignore.
