Biggest takeaway from the Howard Lutnick interview isn’t any one specific policy detail. It’s the idea that it’s entirely possible to just reimagine how government revenue is done. USG is sitting on so many assets, including just citizenship itself. If you can raise revenues from other sources, you can afford to reduce tax burden on your citizens. These things have not been truly re-imagined in a long time, certainly not since software has become reliably good. We have had huge technological unlocks so why have we not accordingly adjusted how we accrue government revenue?
