Let’s be really flippant and say Harris losing is monocausal. What is the main thing Democrats are doing wrong?

The main thing Dems are doing wrong is being a corrupt capitalist party in a country where extreme inequality is dividing us apart and crushing the working class. We need a Marxist major party that speaks to people's needs, fights the Oligarchs and means what it says.

Do people see inequality as that big of an issue where if Harris came out day 1 of her campaign talking about it and made it an important part of it, that would have moved votes in her favor? What should they actually do or propose?

Perhaps but that's besides the point. Inequality is how capitalism functions. Dems have tied themselves to capitalism and imperialism so they are not able to address any of the root causes of the problems we face. I'll only vote against war and empire not for reform to continue them.
