evm shower thought: 1 an explosion of L2s are coming 2 block space will be commoditized 3 brand will become the differentiating factor 4 we'll soon see many "L2 for X" narratives 5 some will seed supply by incentivizing developers 6 some will seed demand by incentivizing users 7 fragmentation will make ux much worse

Why do we need so many new L2s if the ones we already have aren't utilized enough? "L2s are new alt L1s" speculation?

Kindly, that's the wrong question. The right question is, who will soon want to get involved with crypto, and what would be their reasons to launch their own L2 versus sticking with the app layer in an existing chain?

The answer to the right question is: many corporations and governments will soon want to become involved with crypto, and starting their own L2 is often a competitive option, especially to meet their goal of maximizing control. L2 fragmentation is primarily in service of political scaling, not technical scaling.
