🔺Anachrony🔺 A masterpiece from Mindclash Games, ranked #49 overall with an 8.1. Worker placement… but with ⏳time travel, letting you borrow things from yourself in the future. And it’s on Board Game Arena! 🧵 a thread about one of my all-time favorite games…

In a dying post-apocalyptic world, your factions struggle to survive. You don’t fight directly, but you do compete for limited resources. Powered by spacetime-continuum-bending 🟪 neutronium – provided by a catastrophic impact that happens in the future – your workers equip mechs to venture into the wild.

There you will gather resources, trade with nomads, recruit new workers, build up your own city, and evacuate the Capital once impact occurs. Anachrony is for 2-4 players (1-4 with the phenomenal Fractures of Time expansion).

Mindclash is famed for making complex games. Anachrony was built on the success of Trickerion - think board game version of the movie The Prestige - and a play session can last 3+ hours. All Mindclash titles are excellent games, with compelling art and brilliant mechanics. But boy, those Mindclash folks LOVE symbols.

Anachrony isn’t really too complex at core. Place a worker, pay the cost, do the thing, end turn. …once you know what the symbols mean. It’s worth it. Anachrony is available digitally on BGA, a solid way to experience the game. t.ly/R6P9L Happy to play a friendly game with anyone interested.
