Today I could tell a good friend was not in the best place mentally. I sat with him on the phone and listened to what was on his mind and offered the best advice I could. Sometimes all someone really needs is an open ear and often times this can save a life in extreme circumstances 💚

Sometimes you are down but someone else is downer. 5 years ago I was depressed. Its 8pm Im bout to rack out. I see this young sailor alone. We talk. Hes super down, really struggling. I listen and encourage him. I forget about it till 2 years later when he comes finds me on the ship. Tells me how much Id helped him.
