I've started /welcomecommittee The goal is to be the one stop shop for onboarding New person comes in and post about themselves/their interests/their experience Then, appointed "community liaisons" can look at the post and if they think that person would probably enjoy their channel/community, they can respond These liaisons can then chat with this new person, explain channel requirements, and ideally go and introduce that person to the channel, meaning they can start interacting with like-minded people straight away The ideal here is that each channel takes an active role in building their community and we all as community members take some ownership of simplifying onboarding. The sticking point I'm at is how to entice people to become community liaisons as it could potentially be a lot of work for limited reward other than the moral goal of contributing to the growth of the ecosystem
