Matter Neuroscience wants to "find a biomarker for happiness" https://longevity.technology/news/matter-emerges-from-stealth-with-26m-to-find-a-biomarker-for-happiness/ It's an amazing story. Just fix the machine and all will be well. But on the other hand, happiness to me seems like a matter of the soul and spirit.

interesting that biomarker is their starting point when some countries are empirically happier than others, even after controlling for income
