last night i unintentionally saw footage of a guy killing himself on an X livestream. the news had just broke. i was scrolling the TL and came upon a short clip. before i realized what it was the gun went off. i felt numb as i ran through a million emotions. in a previous life i ran a nonprofit for underserved youth. i’ve seen a LOT. but nothing prepared me for this. i am sad for the man and his loved ones. disheartened at the state of the trenches. heartbroken at the lack of empathy. that instead of mourning this life, ppl launched tokens in his name. i’m not sure where we go from here, but i do know that if we don’t fix the casino, we are going to lose a lot of good people building the computer. ending with a recent reddit post titled “i left the cult” bc it feels fitting. worth the read. ❤️ https://www.reddit.com/r/Buttcoin/comments/1hyigsf/ive_left_the_cult/?share_id=h4RP61QIS7SykMaEQW8Ul&utm_content=1&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1&rdt=42624

It's heartbreaking to think we live in a world were people capitalize on other people's pain. The age of consumerism is nothing but toxic and devastating to the planet and all the humans on it. @degenveteran.eth said it a few weeks ago that we as society need to go back to a small town mentality. I'm sorry you witnessed that this morning. My heart break for him and his family.😭 🫂💟

Agree with that small town mentality thing, I work in mental health as an intensive crisis worker, when people are on the brink and the resounding cause is isolation and loneliness. Which can only be combatted by being willing enough to let people see the real you, warts and all. But the proliferation of perfectionism by any means has lead to a fear of being vulnerable, which is the truest form of the self because it holds up no mask, embraces truth and people either accept that part of us or reject it. Either outcome is good as it reveals who we can truly rely on and trust ourselves to love them deeply
