Everyone wants to prove they were early to something cool. This is the magic of being onchain.

tbh i think this is a fallacy in the crypto space and most people just want to enjoy the something once it becomes cool. maybe 1% of the population wants to prove they were early to it, and the other 99% just wanna vibe. exception is investing; bc crypto is so financially motivated, we apply that lens to the world.

I think wanting to prove you were early to something like an artist, game, etc. is appealing to everyone if it unlocks exclusive perks for that thing you were early to and (presumably) love. I would definitely agree that the speculation of “earliness” is definitely a crypto specific thing tho.

100% agree w ur first pt. web3 infra may be best to scale loyalty perks, and we need to move away from the “prove your early” framing because it won’t resonate with the majority of people who are low-ego or not in crypto. devils advocate: tswift gave tix to early fans w/o web3, so why is web3 needed?

I didn’t know about the tswift thing. That’s a good point. How did she identify who early fans were?
