I experienced it once in a coffee+milk, when on a backpack trip in 2006 in Iceland where milk & coffee cost like hell, I swapped by mistake with sugar twice in a row.
was awful and expensive enough to be remembered 18 years later

Noooo... Just a little bit of salt masks the bitterness of bad coffee. Too much isn't fun.
