The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned Cambodian businessman and senator Ly Yong Phat for his involvement in cryptocurrency-related human trafficking operations. Companies owned by this businessman have been investigated for serious human rights violations related to trafficking crimes and online scams. The victims were lured to the businessman's hotels with false job promises and forced to participate in digital currency scams. In July, Tether reportedly froze $28 million in Tether (USDT) linked to illegal activities in Cambodia. /farcon
