product is niche in a niche. Those microsites often target a market where the owner has a marketable book of business in a field where there is a lot of money moving.

Hmm I agree with this, but if they find a way to make their products with such simplicity and usability, the simplicity might be the catch 
But like you said Royal, marketability is also a major deal breaker
