Nah, they won't take Taiwan with the fabs intact. A modern day Fab is an incredibly complicated machine that requires custom power, water, and semic isolation tech amongst other things like ASML working hand in hand to set up the fab equipment. If Taiwan is invaded I would expect something like Operation Paperclip to bring talent to the US and forcefully re-onshore the tech. Add to this that the supply chain for cutting edge fab tech is built by western manufacturing and I think the west has a lot of cards to play even if we presuppose that China will invade which isn't a given. Tldr Doomerism engagement bait

but to your first point, isn’t the whole point of the thread that *we* can’t risk destroying those fabs in the first place?

nah, its fine. What has been built can be rebuilt. It will hurt but its not like the world is gonna collapse because of it.
