Maybe global-south nations who will be most hit by climate change will start threatening to do this unilaterally; even if other techniques are ultimately better, perhaps they need the push to get to the finish line

So many responses to this post say something like “I’m nervous about making changes to a complex system”. But it is clear that we are already making lots of unintentional changes to said complex system! 

Might as well try to fix it.
