Have you heard about the giant disco ball in Berlin? 🪩
In the heart of Berlin, Fernsehturm or Television Tower was constructed between 1965 and 1969 by the government of the German Democratic Republic, or East Germany, as both a functional broadcasting facility and a symbol of communist power to showcase the prowess of East Germany. Here you also see the historic Marienkirche (St. Mary's Church), with its green copper steeple, seemed to cradle the futuristic Fernsehturm above it.
The juxtaposition of old and new always captivates my imagination. When I took this photo, I marveled at how these two structures, so different in design and era, harmoniously coexisted. I thought about how the Marienkirche had witnessed centuries of history, from medieval times to the present day, and the glory of the Fernsehturm, a symbol of modernity and unity, standing tall against the blue sky.
