does stoicism appeal to you as a woman? i often see men posting about it or engaging with it more than women, but have never taken the time (yet) to reflect on why that may be.

As an adjective describing typical behavior, it's fine? Definitely not APPEALING- I like people who laugh and shout and enjoy life in the open- but not inherently off-putting. Stoicism as a philosophy, however, is either basically cognitive behavioral therapy, or a giant red flag of someone suppressing their emotions instead of dealing with them healthily. Very little in between. Usually it's the ones who talk about stoicism unprompted who are in the latter camp IME, the former tends to be more "yeah I picked up this thing that helped" when asked but is otherwise chill.

None of these options appeal to me on basically any level, but I was raised bhuddist so that might be why- I already have all the mental clarity benefits without having to pretend to enjoy silence 😂
