So many "airdrops" are not airdrops, because they require user action. What would be a better term for those? I can't remember the last time an airdrop just permissionlessly showed up in my wallet.

Ironically, scam coins do it all the time — these are inbound drops to my wallet from just the last ten days

ahhhhh yes i forgot about those. Do you think the legit ones requiring more friction is a feature or a bug?

I think it’s a feature - whatever amount is left unclaimed gets burnt so that it doesn’t unnecessarily dilute the holdings of those who showed engagement by claiming. Also there may be tax implications from receiving airdrops in some jurisdictions, so best to leave it up to the user to decide
