nothing but love for @toadyhawk.eth for the nuanced take as it's so easy to reach for the pitchforks in times like these. the fact of the matter is there's considerable evidence to believe that proxy was particularly well-versed at social engineering. you could argue that he was loyal to his community, but that's also precisely what is needed to accrue goodwill to gain further influence and facilitate fraud more broadly (SBF, madoff, etc. were generous givers and philanthropists). he went on a vice interview with a straight face to warn people about crypto scams, and used mental gymnastics to try to retain a bounty for the funds he stole. i'm sorry but that's straight up sociopathic behavior. perhaps i'm taking the glass-half-empty side, but at no point—now or in the future—would i ever be comfortable with him controlling *a massive treasury*, let alone that of a token launcher. i do believe things could've gotten much worse had @wagmialexander not spotted him on a whim. skilled builder =/= good person
