Does anyone have any book recommendations for explanations of the foundations of today’s institutions and the harm brought by industrial-era bureaucracy and centralization?

I really enjoy the book The Sovereign Individual because it predicted a LOT of the capabilities we see today. I started reading “Seeing Like A State” by James C. Scott, but I want to read more books that describe some of these foundations as well as where we might be headed.

It’s very different then TSI but maybe “legal systems very different from our own” would be a interesting book in this topic as it compares the modern legal system of the industrial west with different overlapping ones through most history
