GM to the dreamers! I received the first draft of the "ultra sustainable ultra affordable kinda tiny" house plans. 650 sq. ft of interior space. I'm asking for input this weekend! What do you like? What do you not like? Could you live here? What would you add? There will be a separate carport/workshop/office on site too. Keep in mind, it's being designed for a single dude and a dog or a couple...I look forward to feedback! I have a meeting with the designer scheduled again for next week to discuss changes and ideas. (the walls are thicc because this is an earthbag home) ✌️ ❤️ 🌍

GM what a great looking house! can we know how ultra affordable it is id love to know what "earthbag" construction costs? I like the kitchen layout it looks like it would allow multiple people to move around even if its not a huge space. I could totally see myself living somewhere like this even with 1 other person its pretty big especially as you have a second building too. Things i might change are: to put a fold down (up?) countertop extension at one of the ends of the island to make the kitchen have more countertop space and also be more closed off at times. I also might give the closet a sliding door instead. Also i would combine the laundry and closet into one larger laundry closet room maybe also with a sliding door(s)

GM! I should clarify that "ultra affordable" IMO would be a house that someone who makes minimum wage could purchase in the US of A. A house that people could save for and purchase with cash and not have to take out a loan. A house that costs less than a new car. I can't give a specific number to what it will cost to build in the end until I get the final layout and can do some rough maths. I currently have no idea what the foundation is going to cost, or the roof. I can say that my goal is to complete the project for less than $20k including the land purchase. This does not include the cost of having someone design the house, but it should include everything necessary to live in it. It's going to be a tough budget to keep under to be honest, but I am pretty sure I can do it. As a "for example" a quick calculation of the cost of windows is about $6k, lots of windows means less need for heating in the cold of winter, so its a tradeoff of cost vs performance.
